I am very pleased to welcome you to my practice and my website. As a Doctor of Optometry, I am a primary health care professional who examines, diagnoses, treats and manages diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures, as well as diagnosing related systemic conditions. I prescribe glasses, contact lenses, vision therapy, and certain medications. I have extensive experience in many areas of vision care, including primary care, pediatrics, vision therapy, contact lens, low vision, ocular disease, and LASIK pre and post-operative care. As a member of the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center team, I work among many fine medical professionals who are committed to helping me provide you the very best eye and health care possible.

Dr. Lahijani is "TPA" certified, which allows her to use an extended range of medications in her care of patients. She has worked with one of the largest laser centers in Southern California, and is extremely experienced in all aspects of laser vision correction evaluation and patient care.

I am Dr. Jennie Fan and I am excited to join Dr. Shermin Lahijani's optometric practice. As a native of Southern California, I received my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine and my Optometric degree at the Southern California College of Optometry. My interests include working with the geriatric population, partaking in vision screenings at local schools and providing vision services to underserved communities.

I am dedicated to providing excellence in eye and vision care for each and every one of our patients and have recently expanded our range of services. In addition to primary vision and eye health care, contact lens services, ocular disease treatment and refractive surgery co-management, I am now also providing low vision rehabilitation services. I have undergone extensive training in the examination, treatment and management of patients with visual impairments not fully treatable by medical, surgical or conventional eyewear or contact lenses.

In the course of the exam I will ask for a complete personal and family general health and eye health history. In addition, I will discuss the functional problems with the patient, including such things as reading, functioning in the kitchen, glare problems, travel vision, the workplace, television viewing, school requirements, and hobbies and interests.

I will do a variety of tests not included in a general exam, including assessment of ocular functions such as color vision and contrast sensitivity. Measurements will be taken of the person's visual acuity using special low vision test charts, which include a larger range of letters or numbers to more accurately determine a starting point for determining the level of impairment. I will perform a specialized refraction and examine each eye will be thoroughly.

Both of our doctors are certified in the pre and post-operative management of implantable contacts.

Melvy is our office manager and insurance specialist. She is happy to verify your insurance and schedule an appointment for you that fits comfortably in your busy schedule. Please do not hesitate to ask her any questions about the details of your insurance plan. She will go the extra mile for you.

Karina is our receptionist and recall administrator. She will remind you when you are due for your annual examination.
